The Electrical Genius Nikola Tesla And His Craziness

 The epic journey of Nikola Tesla which eventually didn't end well.

Before we learn about a great person I wanna ask you a question. Who are the most famous scientists? I guess everyone thought of Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking and etc.what if I say there is a man who contributed more to the science field the technology we use the trains we run and many more in fact nearly 80% of inventions runs today's world. Let's dive into his life story.

Early Life

Nikola Tesla (10 July 1856 - 7 January 1943) was born to Milutin Tesla and Đuka Mandić in the Austrian Empire which is known as Croatia today. Tesla's father is an orthodox priest who wanted his son to enter the same profession but thanks to god Nikola was only interested in science.his mother had invented home craft tools,labour-saving devices and had a great memory. Tesla has credited his creativeness, memory and his inventions to his mother's genetics and influence.

Education

Tesla attended primary school in 1861 at Smiljan after completing his schooling he was bedridden for 9 months as he was close to his death, Tesla's father promised to send him to the best science education if he recovered from his illness. Later after recovering, he joined at Austrian Polytechnic in 1875 at Graz on a Military Frontier scholarship. 

In his first year, he excelled in his subjects and earned the highest grades possible. He was mainly fascinated by the mysterious phenomena of electricity (Later in his life, he conquered the field of electricity he was known as the master of lighting or the king of electricity). He used to work very hard barely sleeping. A trait he was to keep through his life (FYI, I also sleep for a less amount of time only a night before my exams😅😆). His teachers even wrote letters to his family that he could die from overwork. In subsequent years though he addicted to gambling by which later he lost his scholarship and all his allowances and he also had very poor financial knowledge which will haunt in his later years.he was not prepared for his exams which ultimately lead to being a dropout from his college.

Fun fact:-tesla never got graduated(No offence but imagine he is one of our B.tech student from India he would be driving an auto or doing some other work).

Work-life

Tesla got himself back on his feet after a few years and started work at Budapest telephone exchange as a chief electrician where he first invented a telephone amplifier L which he only perfected it. Later he went to work at Continental Edison Company in Paris. There he was working on his new innovation on electric lighting and his skills got him noticed and became popular at his company soon he went to work with Edison at Newyork. In those days everything was run on DC current(Direct current) but had a lot of flaws on it. In Newyork first, he is assigned to work on improving and repairing generators. Tesla asked Edison to switch to AC current which he refused and asked him to solve all flaws in DC generators if he is successful he would give him $50,000.Tesla worked overnight and had many sleepless nights at last he was successful.

Later, when he asked the amount Edison simply said that "He Joked". Tesla was disappointed and frustrated he quit the Edison company.

Fun fact:-In those days Edison was a successful Businessman through DC current has many flaws everything was under the control of Edison.DC current can't be transferred from one place to another place there were many DC Generators connected to each other for every 2km.

Tesla Growth and Battle of Currents

Tesla started his own company Tesla Electric Light & Manufacturing and established several patents. Even though it has tesla name the company was run by two businessmen.When they abandon and manufacture and set up their new company. Tesla was jobless for months during 1886 he had to work as a ditch digger just to survive (Oh poor Tesla😓😢). He felt at that time "his education and higher education in science and various fields, seemed to be a mockery".

Once again our hero tesla got himself back on his feet with the invention of new motor that ran on AC current which was eventually bought by Westinghouse. As I said earlier Tesla was king of lighting, he was hired by Westinghouse for $2000 per month and given a hefty bonus. Westinghouse Electric company was found by George Westinghouse and based their technology on AC.

In the late 1880s to early 1890s a fierce commercial battle was going on between Edison and Westinghouse are known as  "Battle of currents" many unnecessary publicity stunts were made by Edison trying to prove AC was unsafe. Edison degraded himself by telling lies about AC and by killing innocent animals by AC current is harmful (Why have you done that Edison?). But still now one believed him. Tesla tried to prove AC current his safe and he was successful he invented Tesla coil and sent 100,000 of volts through his body (it's horrifying man😬) showed everyone and increased his trust and surety on AC current.

Tesla became very wealthy and now had enough money to fund his own research hiring staff and organising workshops. This was the best moments in his entire life in 1885 he became a US citizen. In the same year, he experimented with a system of wireless lighting using a tesla coil. Giving several public demonstrations but never got funded neither anybody invested in it as everyone thought it's danger(Now just imagine someone has invested we would be living in a world there would be no need of wires to conduct electricity😮🙏).

Tesla allocated a lot of time on the wireless transmitting of power.in his laboratory, he worked on wireless telegraphy and he observed strange signals which he thought came from another planet. In media, an article was published entitled 'Talking with planets' More recently speculations came that he may have unintentionally picked up Marconi's experiment that was happening at the same time. Tesla threw all his money in his research and borrowed heavily from JP morgan. However, Marconi's radio-based system which Tesla thought was in part copied from his designs was the first to transmit a message across the Atlantic. After that investors picked Macroni's system which left Tesla once again without funds (Oh poor Tesla😓😢).

There was a rumour that he refused to take Noble prize because he needs to share it with Edison

Tesla's Fall and Love life

In 1906 it was speculated that tesla had a mental health issues from then tesla had stayed at Waldorf Astoria hotel and moved to another hotel without paying bills, after that, he moved from hotels to hotels leaving his bills unpaid. He loved to feed pigeons unpaid from his window's of a hotel room. Despite having money issues he spent over $2000 building a device to heal the bones of sick pigeon. He apparently loved that pigeon it was a female bird whenever he called her name it would come to him.

Tesla never got married because it would get in the way of his scientific abilities(Man talk about dedication and determination he would be the father of it). When Tesla was 75 he was friends with young science fiction writer who organised regular birthday parties for Tesla.

The end of the great mind in the year 1943 at the age of 86 he had his last breath.

He had got many prizes and invented many great things but god had other plans for him.
